Chilled Windows is not a functional operating system. Let’s get that out of the way immediately. You cannot install it on your computer to browse the web or play games.

Instead, it is an interactive art project created by the artist Nooz. It is essentially a highly stylized simulation of a Windows desktop, inspired by the aesthetics of Windows 95, 98, and XP, but twisted into a "chilled," lo-fi, and sometimes glitchy dream.

The "v2" version is the highly polished follow-up to the original release. It features:

It is perfect for anyone obsessed with the Y2K aesthetic, vaporwave, or simply wanting a cool background for a second monitor.

Chilled Windows V2 is a custom, debloated, and pre-tweaked version of Windows 10/11 (usually based on the latest Pro or Enterprise builds). The creator, known as "Chilled," designed this OS for one specific purpose: gaming performance.

Unlike the stock version of Windows, which runs over 100 background services (from telemetry to printer spooling to Xbox live notifications), Chilled Windows V2 claims to run with fewer than 30 active processes at idle. This frees up RAM and CPU cycles for your games.

Standard Windows updates are disabled by default. You control when and what updates (if any) are installed. This prevents "driver breaking" updates from Microsoft.
