Wojanowice Map Top May 2026

OpenStreetMap (OSM) has excellent coverage of Lower Silesia. For a classic topographic look:

To appreciate the map, you must first know the place. Wojanowice is a village in Gmina Kostomłoty, within Środa Śląska County, Lower Silesian Voivodeship, in south-western Poland.

Historically, Wojanowice (German: Wohnwitz before 1945) has roots dating back to the 13th century. While it remains a small, rural settlement, it serves as a perfect case study for topographic mapping due to its subtle terrain features. wojanowice map top

On a topo map, look for the contour lines squeezing close together south of the village center. That tight cluster indicates a steep hill. At the top (520m ASL), the map shows a small cross icon. From this spot, you can see the Jelenia Góra valley, the giant bridge, and the Palace all in one frame.

Wojanowice is a "slow travel" paradise. But without a proper topographical map, it is just a pretty bridge you drive across. With the map, it becomes a day of discovery: hidden waterfalls, forgotten war roads, and views that the tour buses never see. OpenStreetMap (OSM) has excellent coverage of Lower Silesia

Pro Tip: Download the offline map of the Jelenia Góra region before you go. Cell service is fine in the village square, but the moment you drop into the "Devil's Gorge," you will lose your signal completely.

Before we dive into the "top" of the map, we must understand the canvas: Wojanowice.

Located in the Jelenia Góra Valley (Kotlina Jeleniogórska), at the foot of the Rudawy Janowickie mountains, Wojanowice is a historic village (part of the Gmina Mysłakowice). It is famous for its Wojanowice Palace, a neo-Gothic masterpiece with a distinctive crooked tower, and the charming Bridge of Lovers.

However, from a topographic perspective, Wojanowice is a gateway. The village sits at a relatively low altitude (approx. 340–360 m above sea level). Therefore, when we talk about the "top" in relation to a Wojanowice map, we are inevitably looking up—toward the borderlands of the Rudawy Janowickie Landscape Park.
