Cause: Not enough VRAM allocated to the guest.
Fix: Increase video memory in .vmx file:
svga.vramSize = "134217728" (128 MB). Also, install VMware Tools for proper SVGA drivers.
Cause: Memory offset conflict with VMware’s video driver.
Fix: winols+451+vmware+work
| Component | Recommendation | |-----------|----------------| | Host OS | Windows 10/11 Pro or Linux (Ubuntu/Fedora) | | VMware Version | Workstation Pro 17+ (Player works but lacks snapshots) | | Guest OS | Windows 10 LTSC 2021 (debloated) | | vCPUs | 2–4 cores | | RAM | 4–8 GB (WinOLS is lightweight) | | Disk | 60 GB SSD-backed VMDK (split into multiple files) | | Network | NAT (for online map downloads / OLS updates) | | USB Controller | USB 3.1 (for KESS/K-TAG pass-through) | Cause: Not enough VRAM allocated to the guest
Place the VM’s .vmdk on an NVMe SSD. Tuning often involves loading large binary files (up to 4 MB for modern ECUs) and many definition files; fast I/O reduces lag. Cause: Memory offset conflict with VMware’s video driver
