Waves: Tune Real Time Tutorial

Unlike traditional pitch correction software (like the original Waves Tune or Melodyne) where you manually drag notes around after recording, Waves Tune Real-Time works exactly as the name suggests: in real-time.

As the singer performs into the microphone (or as you play back a recorded track), the plugin instantly corrects the pitch to the nearest note. This makes it an invaluable tool for:

Most singers don't want to sound like T-Pain. They want to fix the slightly flat chorus without losing the human breathiness. Here is the real-time transparent tutorial. waves tune real time tutorial

Step 1: Set the Scale Do not leave it on "Chromatic." That allows the plugin to snap to any of the 12 notes, which creates warble.

Step 2: The "Dream" Settings

  • Note Transition: Set to 60.
  • Vibrato: Leave it at 100% (Full natural vibrato).
  • Step 3: Humanize with Flex Tune

Pro Tip: For lead vocals in an acoustic ballad, use Retune Speed: 20 (Very slow). This corrects the pitch over 1-2 seconds. It smooths out the ending of long notes without touching the fast runs. Most singers don't want to sound like T-Pain

This controls how the plugin handles the moments between notes.

Tip: For a natural sound, pull the ball to the bottom-left corner. For the hard T-Pain effect, pull the ball to the top-right corner. Step 2: The "Dream" Settings

Cause: The plugin misinterpreted the octave. Fix: In the bottom left corner of WTRT, there is a tiny Range selector (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, etc.).
