Solution: Your clone fell back to demo mode. You must re-run the 22.3.1 Loader with the --force flag to reactivate the license signature.
The 22.3.1 update writes garbage to the flash. Erase it:

Solution: This is the "Busy Bit" bug. The ATMEGA is running too fast (20MHz vs required 16MHz). Replace the crystal oscillator on the PCB with a 16.000MHz crystal. The 22.3.1 software expects precise timing. "This Interface is not valid":
