Valtra Error Code L302 -

Disconnect the sensor. Measure resistance between signal and ground – typically it should be 100–200 kΩ at rest, changing smoothly as pressure is applied (requires a calibrated pressure source). Without specialized tools, the easiest method is substitution with a known-good sensor.

Based on field reports and Valtra technical bulletins, L302 usually points to one of four issues: valtra error code l302

Air ingress on the suction side of the low-pressure fuel supply (e.g., a cracked fuel line, clogged pre-filter, or failed lift pump) causes pressure spikes and drops that appear as "implausible" to the ECU. Water or biological contamination (diesel bug) can also cause erratic regulator operation. Disconnect the sensor

A pinhole leak on the low-pressure side (between the tank and the fuel pump) will suck air rather than leak diesel. Air compresses; fuel does not. This causes the rail pressure to drop instantly under load. Based on field reports and Valtra technical bulletins,

Located on the high-pressure fuel pump (usually a CP3 or CP4 pump). This valve meters fuel flow into the pumping elements. If it gets stuck mechanically (due to debris or contaminated fuel) or if its solenoid winding fails partially, rail pressure oscillates, triggering L302.

If you're dealing with an L302 error code on your Valtra tractor, here are some steps you can take:

  • Myth: "Clearing the code with a basic OBD scanner fixes it."
  • Myth: "Only a Valtra dealer can fix L302."

  • On the common rail, there is a mechanical relief valve. If this valve sticks partially open due to debris or wear, fuel bypasses the rail instead of building pressure. This is a classic cause of intermittent L302 codes.
