Report ID: ERR-ROM-2026-04-18-01
Date of Occurrence: April 18, 2026
Reported By: System / User
Affected Component: Emulator / ROM Management Module
Severity: Medium – User data loss possible; operation interrupted

1. Run as Administrator The most common cause is a lack of write permissions. If the emulator is installed in a protected folder (like Program Files), Windows may block it from writing save data. the emulator may fail mid-write.

2. Check for "Read-Only" Files If a save file exists but has been locked by the system or a cloud sync service, the emulator cannot overwrite it. the emulator cannot overwrite it.

3. Disable Antivirus/Firewall Temporarily Antivirus software sometimes flags emulator files as suspicious and prevents them from writing to the disk. the emulator may fail mid-write.

Sometimes the file isn’t corrupt—the emulator just lost track of it.

Modern games and save states can be large (anywhere from 1MB to 128MB per save). If your C: drive (or the drive where your ROMs live) has less than 200MB of free space, the emulator may fail mid-write.
