In a world of AI and ChatGPT, is the human teacher becoming obsolete? This satirical yet heartwarming story features an old-school Hindi teacher and a tech-savvy student. Rating: ⭐⭐⭐ (3/5)

Every year, Hindi TriFlix attempts to capture the bittersweet essence of the student-teacher relationship. For Teachers’ Day 2025, they released a compilation of 7 short films (runtimes: 12–22 minutes each). Unlike the saccharine, idealistic portrayals of Bollywood, TriFlix aims for raw, grounded storytelling. This year’s anthology, titled “Guru Aur Grahak” (The Mentor and The Seeker), is ambitious, but its success is uneven.

शिक्षक दिवस 2025 — तीन झलकियाँ (Triflicks Short Film)

(Seven Teachers, Seven Stories – Teachers Day 2025 Triflicks)

1. “The Last Bench” (Film #3) – ★★★★½
Director Neha Sharma delivers the standout piece. It follows a remedial math teacher (played brilliantly by Pankaj Tiwari) in a Lucknow government school who notices a dyslexic student being ignored. The film avoids melodrama. The climax—where the student solves a problem not on the board, but in his head—is silent, powerful, and brought tears to this reviewer’s eyes. This is what short cinema should be. but in his head—is silent

2. “Detention” (Film #5) – ★★★★
A clever psychological thriller set entirely in an empty classroom. A strict history teacher and a rebellious student are locked in after hours. The twist? The teacher confesses he once failed the student’s father on purpose to save him from an honor killing. It’s dark, relevant to 2025’s social climate, and superbly acted by Rajesh Jaiswal.

3. “Shukriya, Miss Das” (Film #7 – The Finale) – ★★★½
A heartwarming coda. A 40-year-old man tracks down his kindergarten teacher via Facebook. The film wisely focuses on her humility ("I don't remember you, but I remember I loved teaching") rather than a grand reunion. It ends on a quiet, realistic note.

The final film in the anthology is a tear-jerker. It explores a reunion where a retired teacher is visited by a student who was once labeled a "failure." It highlights how a teacher’s belief can echo decades into the future, changing the trajectory of a life long after school bells stop ringing.
