Mixed. Many CC items are lower quality than top free mods (e.g., Legacy of the Dragonborn, Beyond Skyrim: Bruma). However, CC content is achievement-friendly and zero maintenance. Good for a lightweight, stable playthrough.
These add new stories, voice acting, and dungeons that rival the official DLCs (Dawnguard/Hearthfire/Dragonborn).

The Creation Club is a collection of official add-ons for Skyrim Special Edition (and Fallout 4) developed by Bethesda Game Studios in partnership with external creators (mod authors, artists, designers). It launched in 2017 as a hybrid between free mods and official DLC. Content is purchased using Creation Club Credits, which are bought with real money.
Unlike traditional mods, Creation Club content:
Important note (2023–present): With the release of Skyrim Anniversary Edition, all Creation Club content (over 70 items) is included by default. If you own Special Edition, you can still buy individual Creations, or upgrade to Anniversary Edition for the complete bundle.
Not all Creation Club content is about weapons. Some add mechanics that arguably should have been in the base game.
9. Myrwatch – A wizard’s tower home accessible via a magical portal near Morthal. It includes a staff enchanter, a display for all unique staves, and a "bloodspring" for necromancy. Free to claim after a simple Chaurus boss fight. Best mage home in the CC. Ghosts of the Tribunal
10. Tundra Homestead – A cozy, pre-built farmhouse just outside Whiterun’s gates. Perfect for early-game players who don’t want to build a Hearthfire home. Features all crafting stations and a basement armory.
11. Shadowfoot Sanctum – A thief’s dream home in the Ragged Flagon of Riften. Includes hidden entrances, a fence merchant, and a "secret escape tunnel" to the city cemetery.
12. Arcane Accessories – Controversial because it’s overpowered. Adds spell tomes sold by Farengar in Whiterun. The Unbounded Storms (a channeled lightning storm) and Unbounded Freezing break the game’s balance – they do massive AoE damage for very low magicka cost. Great for fun; terrible for challenge.
When The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition launched in October 2016, it brought Bethesda’s epic frostbitten open-world masterpiece into the modern era. With upgraded visuals, all three official add-ons (Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn), and full 64-bit engine support, it was the definitive way to experience Skyrim. But the true evolution of the Special Edition came not from a patch or a DLC, but from a marketplace: the Creation Club.
Launched with some controversy among the modding community, the Creation Club has since matured into a curated library of official mini-DLC. In this long-form guide, we will dissect every major piece of Skyrim Special Edition Creation Club content—from the epic Saints & Seducers questline to the utility of Rare Curios—and help you decide whether it’s worth the coin.
