While technically downloadable software rather than a web app, Jagannatha Hora is the gold standard for Vedic astrology students. It is completely free and created by PVR Narasimha Rao. It provides a highly detailed Shadbala table that includes Bhavabala (House Strength) as well.
1. "High Shadbala always means good results." False. A malefic planet (like Saturn) with very high Shadbala will cause extremely efficient destruction. You want benefics (Jupiter, Venus) to be high, and malefics to be moderate.
2. "Exaltation guarantees the highest Shadbala." False. Exaltation only gives max points in Sthana Bala. If that exalted planet is in the 6th, 8th, or 12th house (bad houses), it loses Dig Bala and Drik Bala. An exalted planet can have total Shadbala of only 0.7 if other factors suck.
3. "Free calculators are inaccurate." Most modern free calculators use the Swiss Ephemeris and Lahiri Ayanamsha. They are mathematically precise. The error lies not in the calculator, but in the user's inability to interpret the ratio.
