You cannot review Saturn on Vita without mentioning Overclocking. To play Saturn games at an enjoyable speed, you must overclock the Vita to 500MHz. While this is safe for the console, it drains the battery significantly faster and generates more heat.
Development has slowed, but the scene isn't dead. A theoretical successor would be a port of the more accurate Mednafen Saturn core, but that’s impossible on Vita’s hardware. In conclusion, the PS Vita is not the ultimate Saturn emulation handheld. But it is the only way to play a handful of Saturn games on a pocketable device with physical buttons and an OLED screen (on the 1000 model).
