Focus: Waste Ink Pad Counter Resetter (Adjustment Program)

A resetter is a software tool (often Windows-based, .exe or .exe + keygen) that communicates with the printer via USB to reset the waste ink counter to zero. It is not an official Epson product but is developed by third-party technicians or reverse engineers. resetter epson l6270

A software resetter works wonders, but here’s the truth Epson doesn’t want you to ignore: The physical waste pad is still full of ink.

After two or three resets, the pad will become saturated. Ink will start leaking from the bottom of the printer, potentially damaging the power supply board or the main logic board.

Epson designed the L6270 with a user-replaceable waste ink box (T04D1). When the printer warns you, you should: For the L6270 (released ~2022), these tools are compatible:

Important: Many L6270 units do not lock you out. They just show a warning. Only when the counter reaches absolute maximum does it lock. So if you replace the box early, you avoid the lock entirely.

Epson provides the Adjustment Program only to authorized technicians. You cannot legally download it from Epson’s public website.

The L6270 uses a non-resettable software counter to track waste ink volume. This counter is stored in the printer’s EEPROM (Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory). Epson’s firmware increments the counter each time the printer performs a cleaning cycle or power purge. When the threshold (typically ~15,000–20,000 cleanings, depending on ink type) is reached, the printer enters a “Service Required” state. Recommended: WICReset
