Qld Drivers Licence: Template

The government updates the QLD drivers licence template every 3-5 years to stay ahead of counterfeiters. As of the latest iteration (post-2020), these features are standard:

| Feature | Location | Description | | :--- | :--- | :--- | | Tactile Laser-Engraved Text | Primary data fields | The surname and licence number are physically raised. You can feel the bumps with your fingernail. | | Optically Variable Ink (OVI) | The "QUEENSLAND" banner | The colour shifts from gold to green when the card is tilted. | | Ultraviolet (UV) Fluorescence | Entire card face | Under UV light, hidden patterns of the State emblem (the koala and the Maltese Cross) appear. | | Micro-Printing | Photo background | Text as small as 0.5mm spells out "Qld Transport" repeatedly. To the naked eye, it looks like a solid line. | | Ghost Image (Second Photo) | Lower right corner | A faded, second instance of the driver’s photo is visible only under magnification. |

Important: The physical card template is not being phased out yet. Digital is optional, not mandatory. qld drivers licence template

Software developers building ID scanning apps (e.g., for age verification in bottle shops or online banking) need a digital test template. They use high-resolution scans of the template to program their Optical Character Recognition (OCR) engines. However, these are stored in password-protected, offline environments.
