Ps3xpad Info
PS3XPAD is a custom firmware (CFW) plugin developed by the user Joon (later maintained by aldostools and others). Unlike emulators or PC-based solutions that stream your gameplay, PS3XPAD runs natively on your PS3. It intercepts the console’s native controller input system and reroutes it, allowing non-standard USB and Bluetooth controllers to be recognized as genuine PlayStation 3 controllers.
It is not a standalone application. Instead, it is a .sprx (SPRX module) file that you install into your PS3’s internal flash memory (or load via a boot plugin manager like webMAN MOD or Permanent Patch).

PS3XPAD (pronounced "PS3 cross-pad") is a dynamic library (.sprx plugin) that runs on custom firmware (CFW) or HEN-enabled PS3 consoles. It acts as a universal driver, intercepting the PS3’s native controller input and translating signals from a wide array of USB and Bluetooth devices.
In simple terms, PS3XPAD tricks your PS3 into thinking your Xbox controller, PlayStation 4 DualShock 4, PlayStation 5 DualSense, or generic USB gamepad is actually an official DualShock 3. ps3xpad
HEN (Homebrew Enabler) consoles cannot load SPRX plugins at boot via boot_plugins.txt. Instead, you must use webMAN MOD for HEN:
Note: On HEN, Bluetooth pairing may reset after a full power cycle. Keep a wired DS3 or a USB cable handy for re-pairing. PS3XPAD is a custom firmware (CFW) plugin developed
Before PS3Xpad, using a non-Sony controller meant sacrificing features. Now, you get:
Interestingly, PS3XPAD is also used on the PC via the RPCS3 emulator. Advanced users inject the .sprx file into RPCS3’s lib folder to use non-standard controllers with specific emulated games. This is niche, but shows the enduring utility of the codebase. Note: On HEN, Bluetooth pairing may reset after
PS3XPAD is a dynamic plugin for custom firmware (CFW) and HEN-enabled PS3s that intercepts the console’s native controller input system and replaces it with a more permissive driver. When active, it allows nearly any USB or Bluetooth gamepad to function as if it were a genuine DualShock 3—including full:
