In wireless security settings, ensure the encryption is WPA2-PSK [AES] or WPA3. Avoid WEP or WPA-TKIP (old and broken).

For gaming, focus on strength not length. Use a 15-character password with a mix of symbols and numbers. Avoid special characters like & or # if your gaming console (PS5/Xbox) struggles to type them.

Before you do anything technical, stop. Don't reset the router yet.

When Excitel installs your connection, the technician sets up a router (often from brands like Nokia, Arris, or TP-Link). By default, the WiFi credentials are printed right on the device.

Note: If the sticker says a password like F3g7H@2k, that is likely your current password. However, many technicians change this during installation to make it easier to remember (e.g., JohnsWiFi and password123). If that default password doesn't work, move to the next step.

If you enter the correct password but cannot connect, try these fixes:

Flip your Excitel router over. Look for a white or silver sticker. You will see the following labels:

Best Practice: Take a photo of this sticker with your phone immediately after installation.

You cannot change the password via the Excitel app in most regions; you must access the router's admin panel.

Note: Your internet may disconnect momentarily after saving. You will need to reconnect all your devices using the new password.

Ensure your device (laptop or phone) is connected to the Excitel WiFi or via Ethernet cable.

Don’t keep EXCITEL_2.4G_5G_1234. Change it to something generic like Smith Family Network. Hiding the ISP name prevents targeted attacks.
