Despite their value, coastal ecosystems face significant threats. Climate change leads to sea-level rise, increased storm intensity, and altered weather patterns, all of which can erode shorelines, flood coastal areas, and intrude saltwater into freshwater sources. Human activities, including pollution, overfishing, and coastal development, further exacerbate these challenges.

INT. WORKSHOP - NIGHT
The sound of heavy rain drumming against corrugated metal fills the room. Water drips through the ceiling, pooling on the concrete floor.
DAVI (40s, grease-stained face, tired eyes) works under the harsh glow of a swinging overhead lamp. He is hunched over a massive, rusted engine block—part of an old hydrofoil propulsion system.
He holds a small, intricate component up to the light. It doesn’t look rusty. It looks new. Pristine. Etched on the side is a symbol: a wave breaking over a triangle.
DAVI (Muttering) You shouldn't exist.
He slots the component into the engine. A low hum begins to vibrate the workbench. The lights flicker.

The hum grows louder. Suddenly, the engine roars to life, the turbine blades spinning with a deafening WHIR. Blue energy crackles along the manifolds—clean, powerful energy. Something that hasn't been seen in decades.
Davi smiles, a rare sight.
DAVI Come on... órillese.
He reaches for the throttle.
BOOM!
The workshop door is kicked open. Rain and wind blast inside. Three silhouette figures stand in the doorway, their faces hidden behind polished tactical masks.
LEADER FIGURE (Voice distorted) Step away from the core, Davi.
Davi looks at the engine, then at the door. He grabs a heavy wrench and backs up toward the rear window, looking out at the dark, flooded streets below.
DAVI You’re too late. It’s already awake.
He throws the wrench through the window. Glass shatters. The alarm system of the workshop begins to wail—a high-pitched siren cutting through the rain. orillese a la orilla2024s01e01webdl 108
LEADER FIGURE Take him. Burn the rest.
The soldiers advance. Davi glances at the swirling blue turbine one last time. He turns and dives out the window, plummeting toward the black water three stories below.

TITLE CARD:
Coastal zones, or the areas where land meets the sea, are among the most productive ecosystems on the planet. They provide a range of ecological services, including nurseries for numerous marine species, barriers against storms and erosion, and crucial habitats for birds, fish, and plants. These zones are vital for human livelihoods, too, supporting commercial fisheries, tourism, and recreation.
Beyond their ecological importance, coastal areas like those evoked by "orillese a la orilla" offer immense aesthetic and recreational value. They inspire art, literature, and a sense of well-being. People are drawn to the coast for leisure activities such as swimming, surfing, and simply enjoying the view. The tranquility of a shoreline at sunrise or sunset can be a profoundly moving experience, perhaps even therapeutic. [FADE IN] INT
