We curate Instagram reels from fake locations, use filters to alter our faces, and send voice notes modulated to sound deeper or more sophisticated. NRI Girlfriend suggests that the protagonist’s problem isn’t that he lies—it’s that he is bad at it. The low-resolution photos, the visible wires of the green screen, and the misspelled “Starbucks” cup in the “London” shot represent the inevitable failure of performance.
