The story follows Ganpat "Appa" Belwalkar (Nana Patekar), a celebrated Shakespearean actor who retires at the peak of his career. Believing in the sanctity of family, he divides his wealth among his children, only to face unexpected estrangement and neglect in his old age. Mirroring the tragedy of King Lear, Appa and his wife Kaveri (Medha Manjrekar) are forced into a life of wandering and poverty.
