This paper analyzes the mixed-language utterance “Mon amour me titra shqip” — a three-word phrase combining French, Albanian, and an English-style orthographic rendering of the Albanian verb titroj. While syntactically irregular, the phrase reveals deep structures of identity, intimate address, and metalinguistic play. We argue that the speaker uses titroj metaphorically: to subtitle, name, or reframe their lover in Albanian, thereby claiming an intimate linguistic space. The French mon amour signals universal romance; the Albanian shqip asserts a local, untranslatable belonging. The verb titra (third person singular present, Balkan conjugation) acts as a performative act of linguistic appropriation. The paper examines code-switching typologies, Balkan verb semantics, and the poetics of minoritized language affirmation in intimate discourse.
