“This is just my first '5'. Next year, it will be '3'. And after that... who knows?” Łukasz’s story resonates far beyond the rally track
Born in Katowice, 21-year-old Łukasz "Młody" Nowak grew up surrounded by automotive icons. His father, a mechanic and second-generation car enthusiast, introduced him to engine compartments and carburetor rebuilds before he could drive. By 16, Łukasz was already dominating local Go-Kart races, earning the nickname "Młody Na Piaćce" (Young on Five), a nod to his ability to dominate on the 5th gear of his kart. But it was a gift from his parents—a Mercedes-Benz A-Class—that sparked his fascination with high-performance vehicles, particularly the AMG family. “This is just my first '5'
By 19, he was competing in regional rallycross events, often in borrowed or modified cars. Yet, it wasn’t until 2023, when he rebuilt a Mercedes-AMG G63 6x6 from a salvage yard to compete in the XES Challenge Series, that the world took notice.
The XES Championship 2024 was a high-stakes off-road rally across the Bieszczady Mountains, featuring over 100 racers from Europe. Held on the 10th anniversary of the event, the race was a showcase for innovation and grit. With 60% of competitors in high-end SUVs like Hummer H1 and Land Rover Defender V8, Łukasz’s Mercedes-AMG G63 6x6 stood out—not just for its power, but for its story.
The competition was grueling: 300 kilometers of rock crawling, deep sand dunes, and narrow forest trails. From the start, Łukasz was in the mix. His strategy was simple: consistency over speed. He used the AMG’s superior torque to power through treacherous terrain while conserving fuel. By the final stage (the infamous “Iron Pass”), he had overtaken three top-tier drivers, securing 5th place—a historic achievement for a newcomer.
