Firmware: Mecool Kt1
The Mecool KT1 (often sold as a Google Certified Android TV box) runs on an Amlogic S905X4 chip. While it works well out of the box, firmware updates can fix bugs, add features (like AV1 codec improvements), or recover a bricked device.
MeCool does not host a public, user-friendly archive for firmware. The most reliable way to get the stock ROM is to request it directly from MeCool Support (via their official website or email). Alternatively, community forums often host mirrors of the update ZIP files.
Before searching for firmware, you must identify your exact hardware revision. Mecool (manufactured by Videostrong) often releases multiple revisions of the same model with different internal components (e.g., different Wi-Fi chips or RAM brands).

There are also regional variants for DVB-T2/C (Europe/Asia) vs. ATSC (North America). Mecool KT1 firmware is not interchangeable between DVB and ATSC models. Flashing the wrong tuner firmware will kill the live TV functionality.
