Jbl Xtreme Update Firmware Access

The original JBL Xtreme requires a wired USB connection to a Windows PC or Mac. You cannot update the original Xtreme via Bluetooth or a mobile app.

Critical Warning: Never unplug the USB cable or turn off your PC while the firmware update is running. Interruption during the write phase (25–75%) can permanently corrupt the speaker’s flash memory, requiring a hardware replacement.


Q: Can I update my JBL Xtreme firmware using a Mac?
A: Yes, for the 1st gen Xtreme, JBL provides a macOS version of the updater. For Xtreme 2, you must use the mobile app.

Q: Will updating firmware delete my paired devices?
