Few works in Islamic intellectual history have commanded as much reverence, critique, and enduring influence as Ihya’ ‘Ulum al-Din (إحياء علوم الدين) by Abu Hamid Muhammad al-Ghazali (c. 1058–1111 CE / 450–505 AH). Often simply called The Ihya, this monumental four-volume work represents the pinnacle of Ghazali’s scholarly career and a cornerstone of Sunni spiritual thought.
