On the way home, Don Pedro and Don Diego, consumed by jealousy, conspire against Don Juan. While Don Juan sleeps, they steal the bird and throw Don Juan into a deep well. They return to the kingdom, lie that Don Juan died in an accident, and claim the bird as their own.
