How To Reset Epson L382 Waste Ink Pad Counterorange Light Blinking Link [ 1080p ]

Resetting the waste ink pad counter on your Epson L382 is a handy software fix that can extend the life of your printer. It saves you a trip to the service center and saves money on repair fees.

However, remember that this is a digital fix, not a physical one. The ink inside the pads is real. If you print heavily, we highly recommend looking into an External Waste Ink Tank mod. This allows the ink to flow into a bottle outside the printer, meaning you never have to replace the internal pads again.

Before we dive into the reset process, it is crucial to understand what is happening. The Epson L382, like all inkjet printers, has a built-in maintenance box area (often called a "waste ink pad"). This is a spongy material inside the printer that absorbs excess ink used during head cleaning cycles and borderless printing.

Epson programs a counter into the printer’s memory. Once the printer counts that a certain volume of ink has been flushed into the pad, it triggers two things: Before we dive into the reset process, it

Warning: Epson designs this as a “service required” feature. Technically, the pad can become physically full, leading to ink leakage inside your printer. However, many users find this counter is overly conservative. Resetting the counter without physically maintaining the pads carries a risk of ink overflow. We will address how to manage that risk below.

You have now bypassed Epson’s safety lock. If you did not physically clean or replace the ink pad, the sponge will eventually become saturated. Eventually, ink will drip into your printer’s base, onto your desk, or worse – back up into the print head logic board, frying your printer permanently. Do this: Buy a $10 maintenance box (or cut a piece of diaper padding to place under the sponge). Check the waste pad every 6 months.

| Issue | Solution | |-------|----------| | Software doesn’t detect printer | Install Epson driver first, use USB (not Wi‑Fi). | | Reset fails / counter stays high | Try another version of Adjustment Program. | | Orange light still blinking after reset | Power cycle printer; check paper jam or low ink. | | Error message: “Service required” | Perform both main and platen pad reset. |

Before you run the reset utility, you need to find your Service ID. This is different from the serial number on the back of the printer.
