Because the plugin is so easy to use, novice engineers fall into a loop:

They never learn why the vocal sounds good. They don't learn about mid-side processing, de-essing, or harmonic saturation. EZMix becomes a black box. If the preset doesn't work, they don't know how to fix it—because there are no "tweak" parameters outside of the six macro knobs.

The secret of pro users: They use EZMix as a color box, not a final mix tool. They run a dry vocal into EZMix, print the effect, then import that wet track back into the session to EQ again. They use the plugin for its character, not its finality.

Warning: Toontrack no longer supports EZmix 1. Their Customer Support will not help you install it. You cannot buy it new. You must have an old license transfer or an old installer.

The base plugin came with standard mixes, but Toontrack released packs tailored for specific genres—Metal, Indie, Country, Pop, and even specific guitar/bass tones.

This modular approach meant that EZmix 1 could grow with the user. If you bought the "Metal Guitar Gods" expansion, you suddenly had access to specific high-gain tones that were far superior to the stock amp sims included in the base library.
