Contrary to what some users assume, “Section 316” is not a specific line of code or a known documentation section. Instead, it’s a generic error handling code within RetroArch. It essentially means: “The core (ePSXe) failed to initialize or run, and I don’t have a more specific error message to give you.” The number may vary, but “316” is the most commonly reported one for PS1 cores.

You need three specific BIOS files. The names are case-sensitive:

ePSXe uses plugins for graphics, sound, and CD-ROM reading. Ensure you're using compatible and updated plugins. The graphics plugin, in particular, can cause issues if it's not correctly configured or if it's not compatible with your system or the game.

The ePSXe core is older and less maintained. Consider switching to one of these more reliable cores:

To switch: Load Core → Download a Core → select SwanStation or PCSX-ReARMed, then load your game.

Sometimes, your computer's CPU or GPU might be overheating, causing the emulator to stop. Ensure your system is well-ventilated and consider using software to monitor the temperature.
