Adjustment Program — Epson L3251
Using the wrong version of the Adjustment Program for your specific region or firmware can corrupt the EEPROM. If you write bad data to the printer's memory, it becomes a paperweight.
Eson printers have a built-in counter that tracks how much ink is used for cleaning the print heads. This waste ink is absorbed by felt pads located at the bottom of the printer. To prevent these pads from overflowing and leaking ink onto your desk or damaging the electronics, the printer stops working once the counter hits a pre-set limit.
When this happens, the printer will flash alternating red lights and display a message like: "The Printer's Ink Pads are at the end of Their service life. Please contact Epson Support." Epson L3251 Adjustment Program
The Adjustment Program resets this internal counter back to zero, allowing you to print again.
A corrupted or incorrect version of the adjustment program can write wrong data to the printer’s EEPROM (non-volatile memory). This can permanently disable the device, turning it into an expensive paperweight. Using the wrong version of the Adjustment Program
A: Physically, you can reset it unlimited times. However, the waste ink pads can only absorb so much ink. Resetting without replacing pads will eventually cause ink to spill inside the printer, damaging the printhead and power supply.
Using a third-party adjustment program is a violation of Epson’s end-user license agreement. If your printer is under warranty, Epson will refuse service once they detect that non-standard software has been used. Eson printers have a built-in counter that tracks

The Epson L3251 Adjustment Program (often called a resetter tool or service utility) is a proprietary software tool designed by Epson for authorized service centers. It is not typically released to the public. This program communicates directly with the printer's EEPROM (Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory) to perform low-level maintenance tasks that the standard driver cannot do.
Resetting the counter via the Epson L3251 Adjustment Program does not empty the physical waste ink pad. It only tells the printer the pad is "new." If you reset the counter without physically cleaning or replacing the pad, ink will eventually leak out of the bottom of your printer, destroying your desk and potentially shorting the mainboard.
