You cannot simply build a portal. To access the Dreamtime dimension, you must craft a Dreamcatcher. This item requires rare materials (often involving spider silk and gold nuggets in a specific pattern). Once crafted, you place it on a wall. Right-clicking the Dreamcatcher while sleeping in a bed has a chance (scaled by the lunar cycle) to pull you into the Dreamtime instead of just skipping the night.
