Microsoft has released newer versions (2016, 2021, and "Microsoft 365 Access Runtime"), but the 2010 version holds a specific superpower: It is the last version that supports "SharePoint Lists" as a linked table via legacy workflows. More importantly, many legacy custom applications were compiled specifically against the 2010 DLLs.
Furthermore, the 32-bit version is critical because many older third-party applications (and even some modern IDEs running in 32-bit mode) cannot call the 64-bit version of the driver. Even if your OS is 64-bit, you sometimes must install the 32-bit engine side-by-side.
The Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 is officially out of mainstream support. However, for internal enterprise tools, reporting servers, and legacy ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, it remains the gold standard for the 32-bit ACE provider.
