With the maturity of the REDengine, CDPR has squeezed out more performance.
Release Date: January 23, 2025 Platform: PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S
Overview: While our focus shifts toward the future of the Cyberpunk franchise, the team wanted to address the most requested community features and lingering technical issues to ensure Night City remains the ultimate immersive RPG experience. Update 2.20 introduces major quality-of-life improvements, and 2.21 follows with critical stability hotfixes.
Remember how the Rayfield Caliburn felt like driving on ice? Those days are gone.
Across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X, both updates deliver a unified 60 FPS experience in performance mode. Here are the benchmark results for the January 23 patch:
| Platform | Mode | Resolution | Average FPS | Notes | |----------|------|------------|-------------|-------| | PC (RTX 4080) | Path Tracing | 1440p DLSS Quality | 85-95 | No more micro-stutters | | PS5 | Performance | Dynamic 1800p | 60 | Solid 99% of the time | | PS5 | Ray Tracing | 1440p/30 | 30 | Improved shadow draw distance | | Xbox Series X | Performance | Dynamic 1800p | 60 | Equal to PS5 now |
Load times: PS5 and Series X now consistently load saves in under 7 seconds (previously up to 12 seconds in heavy Dogtown areas).
This is critical for the modding community. Version 2.21 updates the audio modding interface, allowing modders to finally inject custom radio stations without causing the game to crash during "The Rescue" mission. Furthermore, the maximum archive limit for mods has been increased from 100 to 300, allowing for truly massive overhauls.
