Colos Create Pro 5.4

Colos Create is not a general-purpose color grading or editing tool. It is a procedural generator. It takes a path (a mask, text, or spline) and generates organic branching geometry that grows along or out of that path.

It fills a specific gap in the motion graphics market: creating organic "growth" animations without having to hand-animate hundreds of shape paths or switch to external 3D software like Blender or Houdini.

Version 5.4 introduces live pointer tracking and comment threading directly on the canvas. Colos Create Pro 5.4 bundles three main tools: Colos Design (vector/raster), Colos Cut (video editing), and Colos Wave (audio). Here’s how each performed.

1. Colos Design (v5.4 engine)
The headline feature is the new “Adaptive Layer Engine.” Unlike previous versions, which bogged down with 50+ layers, 5.4 handles 150+ layers with complex masks and blend modes without noticeable lag. Real-time rendering of drop shadows and Gaussian blurs is finally smooth. The updated pen tool now rivals dedicated vector apps—curve manipulation feels intuitive, and the new “Shape Builder” (similar to a certain industry standard) is a lifesaver for logo work.

2. Colos Cut
This is where 5.4 shines brightest. The timeline has been redesigned with nested tracks and keyframe easing presets. Multicam editing (up to 4 angles) worked flawlessly with my 4K footage from a Sony A7III. Multiband compression and spectral repair are present, though the UI feels a generation behind the Design and Cut modules. For podcasters and YouTubers, it’s more than enough. For professional mastering engineers, you’ll still want your dedicated DAW.

The Bottom Line: For solo creators and small agencies, Colos Create Pro 5.4 offers the best value. For massive Hollywood pipelines, DaVinci Resolve’s color science is still king, but for everything else—design, motion graphics, audio, and 3D—Colos is the new gold standard.
